The historic Chowilla Shearers Quarters offer a unique experience. This accommodation is situated right on the banks of the mighty River Murray, where the paddle steamers once used to ply.

The history, tranquility, freshness, sounds of the bush and beauty of the area all combine to provide an atmosphere that is truly unique.

The quarters offer affordable accommodation for families, groups and those who just needs a break. Booking of the quarters is exclusive to the hirers.

The Shearers Quarters comprises 11 separate bedrooms containing 27 beds in total. Each of the beds have a pillow and bed sheet provided. There are 3 gas fridges, 2 gas stoves, a freezer, a wood stove and also a BBQ. All cutlery, crockery and utensils are provided in the fully equipped kitchen. The large dining area is popular with guests and features an open fireplace. The amenities contain 4 showers and 2 toilets.

Lighting is provided by a 32 volt generator which guest start when required. A 240v setup provides airconditiong to the kitchen and dining area. Water is supplied by an overhead tank and the pump is operated by guests. Water is heated through use of a wood chip heater (Donkey) which is also maintained by guests. Wood is provided and full instructions are given. Help is available if required. Fresh drinking water is provided.

What to bring: You will need to supply food, drinks and personal gear.
Supplied: mattress, pillow, bottom sheet and pillow case

Bookings are confirmed by a deposit of $100 which must be paid in advance. The balance of the fee is required at the commencement of the hire. Deposits will be refunded for cancellations made at least 6 weeks in advance. Any other refund will be at the discretion of Chowilla Station management.

Quarters are available from 2pm on first day and to be vacated by 10am on last day, unless other arrangements have been made.
